Eptibatide is an antiplatelet drug that primarily works by inhibiting platelet aggregation. It is used to prevent thrombosis and reduce the risk of ischemic events in cases such as acute coronary syndrome and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Eptibatide is suitable for patients with acute coronary syndrome, especially those with unstable angina or non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. It can be used in combination with aspirin to inhibit platelet GPIIb/IIIa receptors and prevent thrombus formation.
During the perioperative period of PCI, eptibatide is used to prevent in-stent thrombosis and other vascular complications. It needs to be administered preoperatively, and the dosage should be adjusted according to the surgical situation. It can synergistically enhance the antithrombotic effect with anticoagulants such as heparin.
Caution is required when using it in special populations: Elderly patients may have an increased risk of bleeding due to decreased renal function, requiring monitoring of renal function; it is contraindicated in pregnant and lactating women as it may affect the fetus or be secreted through breast milk; caution should be exercised in patients with a history of bleeding tendencies, such as peptic ulcer disease or cerebral hemorrhage, and the treatment benefits must be weighed against the bleeding risks.
